There are as many ways to increase your search engine ranking as there are Web designers. Some of them are good. Some of them are not. However, one key secret to increasing your page rank is constantly updating your site – both actually on the site and through Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds.
Search engines love original content, so create content often. You know your business better than anyone. All you need to do is transfer your knowledge to the page and post it on your site. Both your visitors and the search engines will thank you.
After creating new content, be sure to start a blog for your site, including entries that link to content on your site. Also, create a link from your blog to a site map on your site and turn your blog into a real simple syndication (RSS) feed.
Once you have the RSS feed for your blog, you can add it to your MyYahoo! page:
- Click the “Add Content” link in the upper left hand under the search box.
- Click the “Add RSS by URL” link on the right of the “Find Content” search box in the upper section of the page.
- Enter the exact link provided by Feedburner and click “Add.” Do not add the URL for your blog.
- Click the “My Yahoo” tab at the top of the page and refresh the page.
Now, you should see your feed at the bottom of the page. Now, the Yahoo! bot will follow the links in your blog and index the pages on your site. Depending on the size of your site, the process can take a few days or a few weeks. Remember, every time you add new content to your site, post a blog entry with links. In no time, the bots will find you and your search ranking will increase.
